Is Eid Near Diwali?
Diwali is the chief festival of India. It signifies the success of inner light over spiritual hollowness. It is largely a Hindu festival and it is also important for Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists whereas Eid is an Islamic festival. It signifies the end of Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca which is referred as Haj. Sweets, rangoli, bright colours, fire crackers define Diwali. Prayers, donations, hymns, sweets define Eid. The vibe of Diwali is colorful and fun and the vibe of Eid is calm and full of prayers. Both the festivals are celebrated worldwide and are essential festivals in Asia’s south region. Diwali is commended on Amavasya (new moon night). The sighting of moon is very important in Eid. Hence both the festivals cannot be celebrated on the similar day. Although there have been past experiences where both were celebrated in the same week. Both the festivals being celebrated in same week will just increase the happiness in India as both the religions co-exist here.
