Sweets made on Diwali
The festival of Diwali is celebrated with family, friends and relatives. The triumph of inner light over spiritual hollowness is celebrated during this festival.
During Diwali families visit each other’s house to wish them happiness and prosperity.
It is the principal festival of India hence celebrated even at the workplaces. People wish ‘Shubh Deepawali’ to each other which mean happy Diwali and offer sweets. ‘Faral’ which is a savory food is made especially during Diwali.Sweets are an essential aspect of the festival. Every state has its special Sweet for Diwali.
In Maharashtra, Besan ladoo (small sweet balls made of gram flour), Rava ladoo (small sweet balls made of semolina), Karanji (sweet delicacy made with coconut) are made especially during Diwali. In west Bengal sweets like Rasgulla, Sandesh, Rasmalai, Kalakand etc are made during Diwali. Various Halvas , Kaju katli, Motichoor ke laddoo are made in north India whereas Athrasa, Kajjaya etc are made in south.
